Kia Stephens is passionate about helping women who lacked the emotional love and support of their fathers. As a child of divorced parents she knows the damaging impact growing up without a father can have on a woman. Kia candidly shares her story as source of encouragement for others. If you missed the love and affirmation of your father due to death, abuse, abandonment, divorce, or you never knew him THERE IS HOPE. God can and will fill the voids within your soul. Kia has experienced this first hand and today she attributes God's AMAZING grace for enabling her to forgive and love her dad. For this reason, she created The Father Swap blog to be a source of encouragement, healing, and practical wisdom for women dealing with the effects of a physically or emotionally absent father.

Kia, I’m your neighbor at Five Minute Friday today. I’m so impressed with what you’re doing here- what a gift this is to people (especially women) who don’t have their fathers. My dad died when I was 5, and I’ve thought a lot about how not having a father as a child has shaped my view of God. I’m 37 now, and I still struggle with it.

Wow Abbey, Your vulnerability is beautiful. I am sorry for the loss you experienced at such and early age. I know the pain you experience is similar to those who are fatherless in other ways but not the same and unique to you. Please know that I count it a priviledge to take the burdens of the women who confide in me to God in prayer. I will do the same for you. I truly believe God’s word when he says in Psalms 68: 5 “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” I pray He would truly make this a reality in your life. I pray that you would know abundance in this area and not lack. Please know that you are dearly loved and thanks so much for joining the conversation. Be blessed! – Kia
