Only God Can Satisfy You
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” – John 4:10 ESV
Now and then I get a persistent craving. Whether it is chocolate or some sinful carbohydrate, I am not satisfied until I get it. What I’ve discovered about cravings are that they only satisfy you for a moment and then you are left wanting more. We see this in the text as Jesus interacts with the Samaritan woman. As Jesus told her of the living water He could offer, she mistakenly assumed He was referring to natural water. What she did not realize is that Jesus was offering water for her soul.
